At the age of 28, with a degree in political science and a short career in the legal field, I decided to open a photography business. Built entirely on passion and work ethic, I've single handedly owned and managed this company from day one.
The only thing I knew I wanted to be "when I grew up" was a mom. My dream was to pack lunches while I enjoyed my morning coffee, be the soccer mom who always brought oranges and Gatorade, and then read books and snuggle during bedtime. I wanted to be present for my babies, but I also wanted to be careful not to lose my sense of purpose outside of being a wife and a mom.
Being an entrepreneur has given me the flexibility to stay home with my littles, before they aren't so little anymore. It's also provided so many opportunities to be creative and flourish as a photographer and business owner, and helped me to contribute financially for my family.
I wasn't happy with the 9-5, so as soon as I booked my first portrait session, something inside of me lit up. I am the quintessential Enneagram 7 and I am so blessed to be able to build real and lasting relationships with my clients. I love getting to be a confidante for the nervous boyfriend ready to propose, a funny face to a 4 year old who doesn't want his picture taken, or a friend to a family I get to see through each of life's biggest milestones.
The most important part of all of this for me is the fact that I know my daughter is watching and I pray that she grows up to see that it is never too late to find your passion, purpose, or career (and hopefully she finds all 3 in 1).
